To marinate the chicken: Add the chicken pieces in a bowl along with salt, pepper, cornstarch, and egg. Mix until combined and set aside.

To make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together water, cornstarch, soya sauce, white vinegar, salt and pepper and set aside.

To fry the chicken: Heat oil in a large pan, when oil gets hot, add a few pieces of chicken at a time and fry over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes. Remove and set on a plate with a paper towel.

In a separate pan, heat 4 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Sauté the garlic for 15 seconds, then add onion and cook for half a minute. Add the peppers, mix and cook for another half minute. Season with salt and pepper, add the sauce a little bit at a time and mix. After 2 minutes add the chicken, mix and cook for 6-7 minutes or until done. Add a bit of water if the mixture is too thick. Add the chopped green onion and turn the heat off and the Chicken Manchurian is ready to serve with white rice or Chow mein.
