In a large bowl combine flour, salt, and cornstarch. Add the melted butter and the grated cheddar and mix, add water a little bit at a time until it becomes a soft and smooth dough.

Spread some dry flour on the working surface, knead the dough by hand for 1-2 minutes. Divide the dough into 2 equal sizes then roll into a ball.

Take one ball at a time rolled into a 14-inch diameter and about 1/2 centimetre thick. Cut into strips approximately 1x15 to 20 centimetre.

Preheat the oil in a large wok over medium-high heat. Fry the stick until golden brown for 4-5 minutes. Transfer on a plate with a paper towel and let cool before serving.
