In a large bowl combine flour, besan, green onions, yellow food colour, salt, and baking soda. Add water little by little and mix with a hand whisk or just by hand until no lumps are visible and the consistency of the batter is between thick and runny as the video required.
-
Preheat oil in a large wok or a deep fry pan over medium-high heat. Meanwhile, toast the bread in a toaster or arrange on a baking tray and toast in a preheated oven 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8-10 minutes then remove to cool.
-
Drench one slice at a time into the batter and gently drop into the hot oil and fry both sides for 2-3 minutes or until very light pink colour. Remove on a plate with a paper towel and repeat until done.
-
Serve with chutney or ketchup.

Note: This recipe is unique and very delicious and perfect for breakfast or tea time snacks. Serve with hot chutney, hot sauce or ketchup as you desire. I used multigrain bread slices but white bread will be good too.
